What is included in a managed IT services contract?

Typically: 24/7 monitoring of servers and endpoints, patch management, backup and disaster recovery, security monitoring, helpdesk support, and a virtual CIO for strategic guidance. The exact scope varies by provider and pricing tier — always ask for a detailed service catalog.

How much does managed IT services cost?

Most MSPs (Managed Service Providers) charge per user or per device per month. Expect ₹3,000–₹10,000 per user per month for a comprehensive package in India. Compare this against the cost of downtime, a breach, or hiring equivalent in-house talent.

What is the difference between a managed service provider and a traditional IT company?

A traditional IT company bills by the hour when something breaks. An MSP charges a flat monthly fee to keep things from breaking in the first place. Their incentive is aligned with yours — fewer incidents means lower costs for them too.

What should I look for in an MSP contract?

Defined SLAs with penalties for misses, clear scope of what is and is not included, exit clauses that let you leave without huge penalties, ownership of your data and documentation, and transparent escalation processes. A vague contract protects the MSP, not you.

Can managed IT services help with compliance requirements?

Yes — many MSPs specialize in compliance for specific industries. They help implement controls required by frameworks like ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS, maintain audit logs, manage access policies, and prepare documentation for audits.
